We were pleased to present a check for $6,500 to Henderson Middle School as part of the BP Fueling Communities Grant Program. Here’s Cruizers President Edward Holmes with Henderson Middle principal Dr. John Hargrove and school and store staff at the Cruizers Ruin Road location.

“We were able to qualify for the program and wanted to direct the money to an organization that makes a difference in Vance County,” says Holmes. “During times of budget cuts, we are very proud to be able to provide financial assistance to local schools in our area.”

Among other things, Henderson Middle plans to use the donation to purchase over 400 library books for its students.

Cruizers Donates $20,000 to Area Schools and Charities

Cruizers Convenience Marketplace recently presented $20,000 to 28 local schools and a charity as part of ExxonMobil and BP Grant Programs.

“One of our core values is to be a good corporate citizen in the communities we operate in,” says Cruizers Convenience Marketplace CEO Edward Holmes. “During times of budget cuts, we are very proud to be able to provide financial assistance to local schools and charities who do so much good for folks in our area.”

Cruizers qualified for two programs provided by their fuel suppliers–the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance and the BP Fueling Communities Grant Program. Schools were chosen in communities where Cruizers operates one of its 21 locations throughout central North Carolina.

Through the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance, Cruizers donated $500 to each of the following schools:

• Apex: Apex Elementary School
• Cary: East Cary Middle School
• Chapel Hill: Glenwood Elementary, Ephesus Road Elementary School, Mel and Zora Rashkis Elementary School, Culbreth Middle School
• Chatham County: Perry W. Harrison Elementary School, Northwood High School
• Durham: E.K. Powe Elementary School, Southwest Elementary School, CC Spaulding Elementary School, Northern High School, New Technology High School at Hillside, C.E. Jordan High School, Hillside High School, Riverside High School, Southern High School
• Franklin County: Franklinton Elementary School, Franklinton Elementary School
• Oxford County: West Oxford Elementary School
• Raleigh & Wake County: Wakefield Elementary School, Rolesville Elementary School, Fuquay-Varina Elementary School
• Vance County: Henderson Middle School, Dabney Elementary School

• Morehead City: Morehead City Primary School

The BP Fueling Communities Grant Program allowed Cruizers to give $3,250 to both Southern Vance High School and ACTS of Vance County.

Not only did Cruizers present grant money and a certificate to all recipients, they also delivered free Cruizers refillable mugs and gas gift cards to all teachers and employees for future visits to the convenience marketplace. Over 900 Cruizers mugs were distributed.

“We know the donation will help with their broad mission, but we also wanted to personally touch and thank those who work every day to make our communities a better place to live,” says Holmes.
